Ecolabel (European Eco-label) is a voluntary certification system that was set up in 1992 by the European Union to support the market of environmentally friendly products. It includes a study of the environmental impact of the product or the service throughout its life cycle, starting from the origin of raw materials and continuing with the production, distribution (including packaging), consumer use and final its disposal. The results of the study are verified by an independent body and then the corresponding (widely recognizable) eco-label is awarded to the company / organization.
